From hydropower to an oasis of well-being
The Ravenna Lodge is located between Freiburg and Lake Titisee, at the end of the Höllental valley. Right at the foot of the Ravenna Gorge and below the Ravenna Viaduct, two top modernised and renovated holiday flats await you today. However, the building can look back on a long and eventful history.
Situated next to the Ravenna stream, it was originally built to generate hydroelectric power. A generator in the centre of the building, powered by the water from the pond above the viaduct, supplied the neighbouring Sternen estate with electricity around 1900.
A historic building awaits you
After its service as an electricity generator, it was, among other things, the home of a family of forestry workers, a road warden’s house, a weekend retreat and finally the living space of a young, nature-loving family.
In 2021, the house, which was in dire need of renovation, was completely refurbished to make it more energy efficient and a second flat was added to the former farmhouse. The aim was to retain the original character of the Black Forest house.
Since 2022, both flats can be rented as holiday flats and look forward to your visit.
