Hiking, feasting or swimming? The choice is yours.

Welcome to the heart of the Black Forest.
The Höllental connects the lovely Dreisamtal valley and Freiburg with the mountains and forests of the Upper Black Forest. The Ravenna Lodge is located at the end of the Höllental valley, below the Ravenna railway viaduct and right at the entrance to the Ravenna Gorge. In addition to the many opportunities for discovery in the immediate vicinity of the property, there are many excursion possibilities.
The Ravenna Gorge
The Ravenna Gorge hiking trail starts right by the house and leads along impressive waterfalls, paths and rock faces up to the extensive Breitnau plateau.

There is a lot to discover along the so-called “Hochschwarzwald Heimatpfad”. Historic water-powered mills and saws, a rope-making workshop and St Oswald’s Chapel from the 12th century are cultural monuments gathered together in a very small area and can be reached on foot in just a few minutes.
Feldberg, Schauinsland, Belchen, Kandel – the Black Forest is a paradise for hikers, cyclists and nature lovers
Mountains, valleys, cultural landscapes, wilderness. The most beautiful places and routes can be reached in less than an hour from the Höllental. Have you ever been to Titisee, for example? Schluchsee? Windgfällweiher? Mathisleweiher? Do you know the Wutach Gorge, the Bähnleradweg cycle path or the many mountain bike trails around Freiburg and Kirchzarten?

Bathing paradise Black Forest, Europa Parc or Steinwasen Parc
Just a 12-minute drive will take you to the famous “Bäderwelt” water parc where you can relax or have fun with the whole family. For outdoor entertainment, there are excursions to the Steinwasen Parc (25 min.) in Oberried, or Europa Parc in Rust (52 min.).
Freiburg – the Black Forest metropole
Lonely Planet has finally recognised the special features of Freiburg. The student city with its cathedral, brooks and cobblestones was awarded 3rd place in the top 10 cities of the “Best in Travel City Destinations in the World 2022”. Can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Or travel from Hinterzarten free of charge (for all holiday guests in the Black Forest) on the Black Forest Railway through the tunnels of the Höllental valley thanks to the Konus Card. Who can spot the stag at Hirschsprung station?

The wine region – Kaiserstuhl, Markgräfler Land and Alsace
While the fir trees on the heights defy wind and weather, wine is already growing on the western slopes of the Black Forest. A trip to Sulzburg or Königschaffhausen conveys the southern lifestyle of the Baden wine region. And if you have the time and inclination, try a glass of Alsatian Riesling on the other side of the Rhine.
